What is better for landscaping, stone or bark/mulch?
Bark/mulch will break down adding valuable nutrients to the soil. It has the ability to retain moisture and is more cost effective. The drawback to bark or mulch is that you will need to replace it every couple of years. Stone does not need to be replaced.
Can you help me determine how much product I will need?
With measurements of the job, we are happy to help determine the approximate quantity you may need.
How much is a “scoop” of bark/mulch?
We have ½ yd and 1 yd buckets to meet your needs. Generally, most people refer to the 1 yard bucket as a “scoop”.
How much can I fit in my truck/trailer?
Depending on the size of the truck, they can hold approximately one and one half yards of wood product or ½ to 1 yard of stones. Each trailer is built differently and therefore can hold varying amounts of product. The best way to determine what you can haul is come in and have us load you with a safe amount of product.
Do I have to load myself?
No. If you have an open bed, truck or trailer we will load the product.
Are you open all year?
Yes. Hours are year-round 7am-5pm Monday through Friday, with weekend hours during spring and early summer.
Can I drop off concrete or asphalt at your retail yard?
We accept small amounts of concrete and asphalt for a nominal fee.
What is the best product for filling holes in my gravel driveway?
We have many products that work well such as crushed limestone, crushed stone, crushed concrete, 22A road gravel, and crushed asphalt.
How thick should I spread my bark/mulch?
If you are installing new beds, we recommend 4” thick. This will help with weed control. If you’re topdressing, usually 2” will work.
Will the color enhanced mulch stain my driveway or sidewalk?
Yes it will, but it will eventually disappear. We recommend placing a tarp down before having mulch dumped on your driveway to eliminate stain issues.
Why is there fungus growing on my mulch?
Some mulch is more susceptible to fungus than others. Excessive moisture can compound the problem. Aerating your mulch can help to reduce fungus and mold.
What is the difference between screened and unscreened topsoil?
Unscreened topsoil may contain small rocks, chunks of grass, or clay. These are sifted and removed from screened topsoil, making it ideal for lawns, gardens, and beds.
Do you have fill dirt?
Yes, ideally this is used for large spaces, such as a pool that is being filled in or to raise the height of a large area.
Do you deliver?
Yes, we have delivery available Monday through Friday 7am until 5pm.
How far in advance do I need to call for a delivery?
It is best to assume 24 to 48 hours from the time of your request. However, spring is our busy season so it is a good idea to call ahead to ensure that you get your products when you need them.
How big are your trucks?
We have trucks of all sizes to accommodate your needs. No delivery is too big or too small. If you have detailed questions, feel free to contact us through our website, call us, or come visit us for more information.
Can you dump product into my backyard?
Our drivers do their best to place the material where requested. We do ask for an alternative dump location in the event that lines, trees, fencing, or wet ground prohibit access to the desired area.
Do I have to come in to place a delivery order?
We would be happy to schedule a delivery over the phone.
